New Release! Sherlock Holmes and the Shadows of Ingolstadt

Over the years I’ve written a number of Sherlock Holmes stories. Finally, I’ve pulled then all together.

On May the 1st 2026, I release my first short story collection featuring Seven stories in which Sherlock Holmes is protagonist.

Four of these stories have previously been published in anthologies from Belanger Books, but the title story, alongside two others are brand new.

The Stories

The Shadows of Ingolstadt. The title story, brand new for this collection. Sherlock Holmes and Watson travel to Munich for a criminology conference. However, the university was previous based in Ingolstadt, and one of their students was Victor Frankenstein. Now someone has discovered his secret and using their own monstrous creation with nefarious intent.

The Residue of Jekyll’s Brew. Watson encounters a discombobulated Gabrial John Utterson outside Baker Street. He mentions a concern for his kinsman, who has moved into the house of his old friend Henry Jekyll. Is this somehow linked to a mysterious individual who has been brutalising young ladies in Soho?

The Prince of Humbugs. The Greatest Showman himself, PT Barnum needs Sherlock Holmes help when an imposter makes away with the cash he needs to buy the elephant, Jumbo, from London Zoo. First published in Sherlock Holmes – Stranger than Truth by Belanger Books.

The Beastly Excisions. First published in Adventures in the Realms of HG Wells (vol 2). Sherlock Holmes finds himself on The Island of Doctor Moreau and finds himself at odds with that Doctor’s principles. They both agree, however, that murder cannot be tolerated.

The Spectral Menace. A sequel to The Speckled Band and first featured in Adventures Beyond the Canon. Sherlock Holmes finds himself back at Stoke Moran when the new owner finds himself harassed by the previous owner, Sir Grimesby Roylett from beyond the grave.

The Bells of Notre Dame. An original for this collection. The bells at Notre Dame are ringing at peculiar times. Does it have anything to do with the young woman who walks through the square and calls herself Esmeralda, and the strange man mimicking Quasimodo’s actions? Rumours swell that someone intends to steal the crown of thorns, but surely not with Sherlock Holmes on the Case.

The Clockwork Count. First featured in Adventures in the Realm of Streampunk, Holmes visits the home of a young nobleman and an engineer of wonders who believes someone in his family wants him dead.

The collection is available from The Great British Bookshop.
